Winter is a gripping Australian crime drama series that serves as a spin-off to the television film 'The Killing Field'. The series follows Detective Sergeant Eve Winter, a brilliant but emotionally guarded investigator who returns to the Homicide squad after a period of absence. Tasked with leading a team of detectives, she must navigate complex office politics and her own troubled past while solving high-stakes murder cases in the gritty urban landscape of Sydney. As the season progresses, Eve is forced to confront the ghosts of her personal life, particularly the unresolved trauma surrounding her sister's disappearance years prior. The series masterfully blends procedural crime-solving with deep character-driven drama, highlighting the friction between Eve and her new partner, Lachlan McKenzie, as they struggle to balance their professional duties with the dark secrets that threaten to unravel their investigation.
