Ritsu Onodera quits his father's publishing company to escape the shadow of nepotism and joins Marukawa Publishing, hoping to make a fresh start in the literary department. However, against his wishes, he is assigned to the shojo manga division—a genre he has zero experience or interest in. To make matters worse, his tyrannical, perfectionist editor-in-chief turns out to be none other than Masamune Saga, Ritsu's high school senior and first love whom he had a messy falling out with years ago. As Ritsu struggles to survive the grueling deadlines, temperamental manga artists, and his boss's relentless pursuit, old feelings resurface alongside professional clashes. The series explores the chaotic, whirlwind romance of the emerald editing department, intertwining Ritsu and Masamune's unresolved past with the equally turbulent relationships of other editors and creators within the company.
