Rudy Youngblood is an American actor, musician, dancer, and artist of Native American descent (Comanche, Cree, and Yaqui). He rose to international prominence when he was cast by director Mel Gibson as the lead protagonist, Jaguar Paw, in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful epic historical drama film Apocalypto (2006). His powerful physical performance and emotional depth in a virtually dialogue-free, action-driven role earned him widespread recognition.
Following his breakout role in Apocalypto, Youngblood has continued to work in independent cinema, television, and theatre. He has dedicated much of his life to promoting Native American culture, motivational speaking, and engaging in various artistic mediums including painting, music, and traditional powwow dancing. His career spans various action, western, and drama genres in American cinema.
