Created by Bruce Geller and Richard Levinson & William Link, *Mannix* follows the exploits of Joe Mannix, a tough-talking, hard-hitting private detective based in Los Angeles. In the first season, Mannix works for Intertect, a computerized detective agency, but quickly chafes against their corporate, tech-driven methods. Believing that human intuition and personal touch are essential to solving crimes, he leaves Intertect to establish his own independent practice, eventually operating out of an office at 17 Flood Street. Throughout the series, Mannix tackles gritty, high-stakes cases ranging from murder mysteries and extortion to corporate espionage and missing persons. He is aided by his fiercely loyal and efficient secretary, Peggy Fair, and frequently collaborates with local law enforcement, most notably Lieutenant Art Malcolm. Renowned for its stylish action sequences, memorable Lalo Schifrin jazz score, and Mike Connors' charismatic, bruise-taking lead performance, *Mannix* became a defining classic of 1960s and 1970s American television detective drama.
