Dr. David Banner, a lonely and grief-stricken research scientist, accidentally exposes himself to high levels of gamma radiation while trying to unlock humanity's hidden strength reserves. As a result of this tragic mishap, whenever David experiences extreme emotional stress or rage, his body mutates into a massive, unimaginably strong, and rage-fueled green humanoid monster known as the Hulk. Believed to be dead by the world, David wanders from town to town across America, taking on odd jobs while desperately seeking a cure to rid himself of his violent alter ego. Throughout his journey, David is relentlessly pursued by tabloid newspaper reporter Jack McGee, who witnessed the creature during the initial laboratory accident and is obsessed with uncovering the truth about the Hulk, mistakenly believing him to be a dangerous murderer. Despite trying to help people he encounters along the way and avoiding conflicts, David's heroic impulses frequently force him to transform, leading to inevitable destruction and narrow escapes before he must move on to his next solitary destination.
